MEET
SARAH

wife • mother • doula • bereavement trainer
Sarah lives in the mountains of Western NC with her husband, two children, and crazy puppy. God brought Sarah and her husband and there individually, before they got engaged and married, and have now been Southerners for 7 years.

She became a doula not long after she got married. She has always loved birth, and had always dreamed of using it in some sort of ministry, but wasn’t entirely sure how God would do that. So Sarah took her doula training in 2020, right as the world shut down for COVID-19. At her first birth, she wore two masks and a face-shield because that was required by the hospital. But that birth took my obsession to a whole new level. I knew I’d never be able to give up birthwork after that.

Fast-forward to November of 2020, Sarah and her husband and I became pregnant with their first baby! They had been trying for a couple of months at this point, and had been told they might not be able to get pregnant. So, when she finally got a positive pregnancy test, she and her husband were ecstatic. Unfortunately, they never got to meet that baby this side of Heaven, as Peanut was born at 10 weeks, in January 2021.

Over the next year and a half, Sarah and her husband had two more very early losses, and struggled a lot with what God’s plan would be for their family.

During that time, Sarah started specializing in her doula work, focusing on loss and pregnancy after loss. In the first year, God allowed her to encourage and support dozens of women through the losses of their own babies – in every gestation, with all sorts of stories – and He really grew her heart for loss moms. She even started a virtual one-on-one coaching program for moms navigating life after loss, and created a birth course specifically for moms who have been through loss in the past and who are now preparing for another baby.

In 2022, Sarah fell pregnant again, but this pregnancy was different. This time, she made it out of the first trimester, and then she made it into the second, and then to the third. At last, in February of 2023, Sarah's beautiful rainbow baby boy was born at home. His name means “the God Who Heals,” as a reminder of how the hope we have in God brings healing – both to our hearts and to countless others!

In 2024, Sarah started The Pregnancy After Loss podcast to give help and hope for moms navigating the journey of pregnancy after miscarriage or stillbirth.

Also in 2024, she started writing a training for doulas on how to support moms through loss. Sarah felt like there was nothing out there that came from a Biblical perspective, and she knew that was a huge need. Loss moms need the hope of the Gospel, and we, as doulas, have a unique opportunity to share that hope.

Then Sarah became pregnant with her daughter as she was writing this curriculum. So she taught it for the very first time to a group of 4 doulas, in March of 2025, at 6 months pregnant! The Lord has now allowed 8 doulas to finish the course and become Holding Hope Bereavement Doulas.

Sarah's daughter was born in June. Her name means “God is Gracious,” as a reminder of how God has truly used our story to show His grace abundantly!
